Positions in this class are members of the comprehensive planning staff, which is responsible for long-range and strategic planning, and the implementation of the comprehensive plan. Incumbents are responsible for working on specific elements of the comprehensive plan which include capital improvements, land use, transportation, housing, neighborhood planning, etc.
Under general supervision, the Planner II works on a wide variety of professional planning projects including but not limited to: policy development; data collection and mapping, interpretation and presentation; cross departmental coordination; and monitoring/implementation of action items. Day to day, this position performs related research, data analysis, and reporting; project coordination and development, budget monitoring, participates in neighborhood outreach and public meetings, etc.
Strong verbal, written and organizational skills ideal. Master's Degree in Urban Planning or closely related field plus two years of work experience in planning desired. Experience in long range planning preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION
Applicants are required to have professional planning experience in at least one of the following areas: Capital Improvements, Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Neighborhood Planning, Multimodal Infrastructure Planning, Green Infrastructure Planning, Grants Administration, or Urban Design. Examination will be a rating of education and experience through a structured interview.
$4,020-$5,025/month/DOE.
