The City of Cottonwood Heights is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Planner to join our dynamic Community & Economic Development Department. This key position plays a critical role in shaping the future of our community by guiding and implementing land use policies, managing development projects, and fostering a vibrant and sustainable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a variety of complex planning projects, including zoning code updates, master plan revisions, and special studies.
• Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on planning and development issues.
• Review and process land use applications, ensuring compliance with city ordinances and regulations.
• Represent the City at public hearings, meetings, and workshops, effectively communicating complex planning concepts to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with other departments, community stakeholders, and elected officials to address planning challenges and implement community goals.
• Assist in the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and programs.
• Manage and mentor junior planning staff, including interns.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of progressive professional planning experience in a municipal setting.
• Strong understanding of land use planning principles, zoning regulations, and local government processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in GIS software and other relevant computer applications.
• AICP certification is preferred.
