In this pivotal role, you'll oversee capital planning activities and spearhead community engagement efforts, ensuring our extensive portfolio of over 200 schools and offices is strategically aligned with modern educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Master Planning: Lead the development and implementation of the Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP), ensuring alignment with the annual budget and the six-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
- Real Estate Strategy: Develop effective real estate utilization strategies, including identifying swing spaces to facilitate construction and renovation projects.
- Data Analysis: Analyze enrollment trends and facility utilization, presenting insights to executive leadership, the Board of Education, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
- Boundary Studies: Conduct and participate in boundary studies, collaborating with leadership and various PGCPS divisions.
- Community Engagement: Develop and execute communication plans to provide transparent updates on capital projects and changes.
- Liaison Duties: Serve as the primary contact between PGCPS, the Board of Education, Prince George's County Council, and other governmental bodies.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in business administration, planning, public administration, architecture, engineering, accounting, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in educational facility planning, enrollment forecasting, or capital programming.
- Certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Google applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, with experience presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
- Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Position Details:
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Salary Range: $90,881 - $182,917 per year

This role will be supported by two Planner II positions (also currently hiring!) to coordinate activities related to the development of the Educational Facilities Master Plan and Capital Improvement Program. This role involves preparing educational specifications and collaborating with various stakeholders to support our facilities planning initiatives.
