Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a talented and motivated professional to work as a TERM LIMITED TEMPORARY (TLT) Senior Capital Projects Coordinator. This exciting project management position will join the Solid Waste Capital Planning and Operations Support Team. This role will deliver projects to improve and build critical infrastructure at the City of Seattle's Solid Waste facilities and closed landfills. This Term Limited Temporary (TLT) opportunity is expected to last nearly 3-years and is a fully benefitted temporary assignment.

Job Responsibilities
Primary TLT Senior Capital Projects Coordinator Job Responsibilities:
- Manage various Solid Waste Line of Business (SWLOB) capital projects from initiation through options analysis. This includes development of problem or opportunity statements, cost estimates, seeking approval for funding, coordinating and facilitating meetings, and procurement of consultants through City of Seattle contract processes. Responsible for keeping projects on time, within budget, and consistent with the SWLOB policies.
- Analyze project needs, identify problems, and develop solutions that consider financial, social, and environmental factors.
- Develop and present clear technical documents, proposals, and presentations.
- Support capital projects through design, contracting, and construction as the LOB Representative.
- Approve scope and funding additions.
- Provide design review input from the SWLOB's perspective.
- Review various contractor submittals, RFIs, and assist in negotiating change orders.
- Collaborate and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders including the Project Delivery and Engineering Branch, Finance, Solid Waste Operations, SDOT, WSDOT, consultants, members of the community, contractors, and regulatory agencies (Washington Department of Ecology, King County industrial Waste, King County Public Health, etc.) to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support operational needs by assisting in identifying aging infrastructure and major maintenance gaps that require capital funding or new contracts.
- Assist in the scoping and bid process for new SWLOB vendor contracts or the renewal of City-side blanket contracts heavily used by the SWLOB.

Qualifications
Experience: Four (4) years of project or construction management or related experience.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or similar fields of study.
Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience(s) will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with industrial facility drainage permitting including Washington State Department of Ecology Industrial Stormwater General Permit and King County Industrial Waste
- Familiarity with solid waste and environmental regulations related to transfer station facilities, moderate-risk waste facilities, recycling facilities and closed landfills
- Documented experience of capital project lifecycles from planning phases, engineering design, construction, and closeout
- Experience in cross-functional teams or matrixed organizations where coordination with various stakeholders was required
- Ability to read and interpret engineering design documents including plans, specifications, and engineering reports
- Familiarity with public works contracting and government procurement processes

The full salary range for this position is $61.94 per hour - $72.26 per hour.
Workplace Environment (*Telework Expectation):
This position is a hybrid schedule between 2 days at home and 3 days in-office, and specific schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
