POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Development Services Manager, the Planner is responsible for coordinating and managing all planning and technical services related to planning, zoning, subdivisions and general development of the City. The Planner must perform duties including, but not limited to: complex short and long range planning; developing and implementing various projects; conducting research, collecting data and writing reports for presentations and projects; monitoring and supervising direct reports and assigned projects; and developing recommendations on various planning and zoning issues. Frequent presentations and coordination with the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and City Council will be required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related filed from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in municipal planning and zoning.
  • The following registrations, licenses, or certifications are preferred:
    • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire
    • Certification/designation from the International Code Council (ICC)
  • Must have valid Texas Driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment screening, background check and employment eligibility verifications.

Schedule: Full-time: Mon. - Thurs. 8:00am - 5:30pm, Fri. 8:00am - 12:00pm. Flexibility to attend evening meetings required.
