JOB SUMMARY:

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking qualified applicants for the seasonal position of Planning Intern in the Community Development Department. The Planning Intern will assist the Assistant Community Development Director with responding to inquiries, researching information, collecting and analyzing data, conducting field inspections, reviewing development project compliance, and work on special projects. This seasonal position will offer up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30am to 4:30pm.

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and is preferably enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in land use planning, municipal or urban planning, public administration, or a closely related field of study. A valid State of Illinois Driver's License is required upon hire.

Candidates must have knowledge or general understanding of land use and zoning regulations, the role of municipal codes and ordinances, and must be public service oriented. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication, customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
