Salary: Planner, Senior: $90,792.00 -$122,574.40 Annually; Planner, Associate: $85,134.40 -$110,656.00 Annually
Work Location: Atrium, 99 West 10 Avenue, Eugene, OR
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with the flexibility per business need.

Senior Planner Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible professional urban planning experience.
Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in urban and regional planning, architecture, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in a related field is desirable.
Background:
Must pass a background check.
License:
Valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Certifications:
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desirable
- Architectural registration or membership in American Institute of Architects (AIA) may be desirable
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge:
- Modern principles and practices of urban planning, economics and development.
- Methods and techniques of effective technical report preparation and presentation.
- Research methods and statistical principles related to urban growth and development.
- Recent developments, current literature and sources of information related to municipal planning and administration. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Principles and practices of supervision and training.
- Citizen involvement techniques and processes.
Ability:
- Analyze site design, terrain constraints, circulation, land use compatibility, utilities and other urban services.
- Ensure project compliance with Federal, State and local rules, laws and regulations.
- Prepare and analyze technical and administrative reports, statements and correspondence.
- Supervise and train assigned staff.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Associate Planner Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Three years planning related experience.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in urban and regional planning, architecture, landscape architecture or a closely related field.
Background:
Must pass a background check.
License:

- City laws and ordinances related to general plans, zoning and land divisions.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Modern principles and practices of research methodology, urban planning, economics and development.
- Applicable environmental laws and regulations.
- Community involvement techniques and processes.
Ability:
- Interpret planning and zoning programs to the general public.
- Analyze and compile complex technical and statistical information and prepare reports involving site design, circulation, utilities, and other urban services.
- Perform professional planning work with minimal supervision.
- Translate complex planning issues and technical data into an easily understood information for the public.
- Manage controversy related to specific development proposals and community planning issues.
- Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in written and graphic work.
