Department Summary:
Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is part of the Finance and Administration portfolio, comprising seven departments and approximately 300 employees. CPFM is responsible for planning, building, maintaining, and operating the infrastructure that supports the University of Oregon. CPFM is committed to collaboration, service excellence, diversity, problem-solving, and stewardship.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director - Space Management manages the Space Management team within Campus Planning. Responsibilities include managing space requests and planning projects, developing long-range space planning guidelines, and providing supervision and professional advice for space management activities. This position reports to the Director of Campus Planning and works closely with the Campus Planning Space Management Team.
Typical Work Includes:
- Analyzing physical space data
- Resolving space requests
- Setting Space Advisory Group (SAG) meeting agendas
- Establishing best practice guidelines for space utilization
- Conducting analytical space studies
- Developing space management tools and processes
- Serving on capital project management teams
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Public Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 3 years of professional experience in space management analysis or space planning
- Lead work or supervisory experience

- Competence in space planning and/or space management analysis
- Strong analytical skills and experience

- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Understanding of research university objectives

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional experience in space management analysis or space planning
- Experience with research university operations
- Understanding of university planning policy issues
- Experience in architectural programming
- Experience with group facilitation
