RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will work on various transportation, safety, and multimodal projects. You’ll develop reports and plans by using your writing, research, mapping, or graphics skills. Throughout your work, you'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, attend team meetings and trainings, and have opportunities to develop your technical expertise across multiple project types.
- Conduct studies and prepare reports.
- Develop plans, recommendations, and policies to achieve transportation goals, objectives, and standards according to Federal and State legal requirements.
- Reviews and provides analysis to proposed Federal and State legislation related to transportation that may impact the region.
- Review land development proposals and environmental documents to provide recommendations related to transportation planning.
- Assist in the preparation of requests for consultant qualifications and manage consultant contracts.
- Assign, review, and evaluate the work of consultants, contractors, or vendors.
- Prepare and make oral presentations before public officials, the public, and/or technical groups.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Public Administration, GIS, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and three (3) years full-time experience.
- A Master’s Degree in one of the above disciplines may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Advanced understanding of ArcGIS Pro.
- Knowledge of: Regional, State, and Federal transportation planning processes, procedures, practices, and regulations.
- Knowledge of: Regional, State, and Federal legislative and funding processes.
- Proficient with computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and/or databases.
- Ability to: Communicate complex information effectively to a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds of both technical and non-technical experience.
- Ability to: Research, compile, analyze, and interpret data.
- Basic understanding of multimodal transportation planning practices and design standards.
- Ability to independently work on multiple projects and complete tasks at a high level of quality.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Transportation planning research and statistical methods, including transportation modeling.
- Apply statistical methods and computer modeling techniques to transportation planning projects.
- Ability to prepare maps and/or transportation models.
- Research, locate, and write effective grant proposals for funding transportation projects.
- Experience in consulting and/or public transit management.
SALARY RANGE
The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 plus benefits. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill set, and qualifications.
