Zebulon is growing fast, and we're looking for a Senior Planner to lead our current planning operations. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and team mentorship to help manage development review and guide high-quality growth.

What You'll Do:

• Lead day-to-day operations of current planning, ensuring timely, accurate, and customer-focused service
• Oversee technical review of rezonings, site plans, subdivisions, special use permits, and variances
• Chair the Technical Review Committee (TRC) and coordinate across departments and agencies
• Communicate clearly with developers, engineers, and the public to ensure smooth, consistent outcomes
• Mentor staff and support departmental planning and budgeting
• Present to boards, manage case tracking, and contribute to ordinance updates and long-range planning

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's in Relevant Field or Master's in Urban Planning (PAB-accredited preferred)
• 2–3+ years of progressively responsible local government experience
• AICP preferred or obtainable within 1 year
• Strong grasp of planning principles, development processes, and NC Zoning Law (or ability to learn quickly)
• Excellent communicator and collaborator with project management skills
