Key Responsibilities

  • Review development projects for residential, industrial, and commercial land uses that can range greatly in scale and size for compliance with the Community Development Code.
  • Implement the City's Comprehensive Plan through development review.
  • Research and processing land use development applications, permit applications, plans, amendments, variances and related documents.
  • Present staff findings/recommendations at public hearings and community meetings.
  • Community Development Code (CDC) administration including supporting our Code and Policy Project Manager as a subject matter expert for CDC amendments/updates.

Exciting Projects on the Horizon

As a Senior Planner, you may provide professional planning support to Development Code Amendments including updates to residential and mixed-use zones to support our housing production strategy, refinements to our industrial code, and Hillsboro Airport Use and Overlay Zone.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Geography or related field and five years of municipal planning related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
