Today Clatsop County is one of nine Home Rule counties in Oregon. Five non-partisan elected Commissioners set policy and appoint a full-time County Manager, who is responsible for daily operations. County services are provided through these departments: County Administration (County Manager), Assessment and Taxation, Budget and Finance, County Clerk, Juvenile, Public Health, Public Works, Community Development, the District Attorney, and Sheriff's Offices. The county also administers a road district, a rural law enforcement district, and a local sewer district.
THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Community Development's Planning Manager, the individual in this position is to support the County's planning and land use objectives by contributing to the development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive plans, land use regulations, and related programs. This position promotes community engagement in planning efforts and helps ensure compliance with applicable ordinances through education, coordination, and regulatory support.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in land use planning or closely related field.
- Experience in land use planning; work with community groups during such activities as group speaking and presentation, agenda setting, and chairing of meetings.
- Knowledge of graphic arts skills for preparation of charts and sketches and standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
