Assistant Planner
Major Function and Purpose:
This position reviews development applications and site plans for compliance with local and state regulations and monitors applications through adoption stages. Provides information to the public related to development applications, ordinances, codes, and related development information. Performs code development research and drafting and assists with development of applicable plans, regulations, and policies.
Pay & Benefits: $36.77 to $42.64 per hour ($76,481 to $88.691 annually)
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. HRA VEBA account may also be provided. Retirement benefits include a choice between PERS 2 or 3 and optional Deferred Compensation. The City recognizes 11 paid holidays and provides 2 personal holidays annually. Vacation leave is accrued at 0.0769 hours per straight time hour paid in the first 2 years of employment, with increases thereafter. Employees earn 0.0462 hours of sick leave per regular straight-time hour paid. Work boot allowance may be available. Associate Planner
Major Function and Purpose:
The Associate Planner provides professional review of various moderately complex urban planning proposals. This is professional work in urban planning, performed under the supervision of the Development Director or designee, and reviewed by observation, evaluation of reports and products, and other performance criteria.
Pay & Benefits: $41.68 to $48.33 per hour ($86,694 to $100,526 annually)

Assistant Planner
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in planning or closely related field from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning, city, or regional planning is required. Valid, current, unsuspended driver's license required upon hire. Out of state candidates are required to obtain a WA state driver's license in accordance with state law.
Associate Planner
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Planning or closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional planning experience. Ability to conduct physical inspections of construction sites. Valid, current, unsuspended driver's license required upon hire. Out of state candidates are required to obtain a Washington state driver's license in accordance with state law.
Any combination of experience and training that provides the desired skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered.
