The Planning Manager leads the City's Planning Division, overseeing staff, budgets, and departmental goals while guiding community growth and development. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing division reports and budgets, and reviewing land use and subdivision proposals for compliance. The role shapes long-range planning, zoning updates, and urban design initiatives, while conducting research and data analysis to inform decision-making. The Manager prepares reports and recommendations for boards, commissions, and City Council, and ensures compliance with federal and local planning regulations.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning (master's preferred), 5 years of progressive planning experience with at least 1 year of supervisory work, and AICP certification within 18 months. Candidates should bring strong knowledge of zoning laws, urban design, and GIS, with proven skills in leadership, analysis, public engagement, and policy development.
