JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision in the City's Planning and Development Services Division, assists the Long-Range Planning Manager with the City's activities relating to Comprehensive Planning, the Capital Improvement Program, transportation projects, Floodplain Management, and various long-range plans. Provides customer service; participates in internal development review meetings; conducts research; and assists with the development, amendment, and implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code in coordination with local and state regulations and requirements. Assists the Division in achieving the City's goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field and three (3) years progressively responsible experience in planning, zoning, and/or land use, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience interpreting Florida Statutes preferred. Master's degree, AICP certification, and/or Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certifications preferred.
- Requires a valid Florida driver license.
- Work involves a minimum of physical effort within an office environment. Occasional driving required to locations within the City, County, and Tampa Bay region.
- Requires flexible hours for attendance at City meetings and events.
- The job requires frequent fine manipulation, grasping, and repetitive motion of small objects.
- On rare occasions may be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
