The Park Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing and conducting projects related to the planning and implementation of Plano's Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan. The position implements and oversees projects within the Parks and Recreation Capital Investment Program, and supervises a team that focuses on urban forestry, trails construction, and GIS data management.

The Department has been CAPRA accredited since 1994 and is ranked number one in Texas by the Trust for Public Land, reflecting its long-standing commitment to excellence in parks and recreation services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Modern trends, methods and procedures of Parks and Recreation facility planning and development; federal, state, and local environmental and land use issues and ordinances applicable to parks and recreation; state and federal guidelines for grant administration; basic architectural and structural engineering principles and methods; principles and practices of arboriculture; contemporary trends in park planning and development and landscape architecture; federal and state law of municipal government organization and functions; and legal terminology related to development documents.
Skill in: Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in both formal and informal settings; reading and interpreting blueprints, plans and specifications; planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing complex projects; operating a computer, standard Windows operating system software, and some specialized software and applications; maps and plats; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Prefer skill in BlueBeam and ArcGIS.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public Administration, Landscape Architecture, or related field required.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in facility planning and construction, particularly parks and recreation facilities, construction project management and/or construction administration required, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. Membership in AICP is preferred.
Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
