EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Boone County Planning Commission is interested in hiring an Executive Director. The organization is a joint city/county planning commission serving the entire county and three cities. The organization consists of appointed Board members, a professional Staff and a budget of $2.6 million. It is responsible for providing land use, planning, zoning and GIS services countywide. The agency has won many local and state planning and GIS awards.

Boone County is part of the Kentucky Bluegrass history and the Cincinnati MSA. It is a leader in population, housing and employment growth. It is home to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and is accessible by three interstates, 42 miles of the Ohio River and two rail lines. The community is 256 square miles in size and has an estimated population of 147,142. It has a diverse and growing economic base of manufacturing, logistics, retail, office, educational, tourism and recreational businesses. The community is rich with rural and historic landscapes.

Qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in community planning or related field and at least 12 years of progressive work experience in land use planning, preferably in growth management as well as demonstrated work experience in zoning. A Master’s degree in planning or related field is a plus. Strong supervisory and budgeting knowledge and experience are required along with excellent written, technical, communication and organizational skills. Starting salary is a range of $135,000 - $175,000 annually dependent on qualifications and work experience. The position includes a generous benefits package, which includes excellent medical and dental insurance, paid vacation, CERS retirement as well as other benefits.
