Solar Energy

The county's zoning ordinance includes use permissions and development standards for small and large solar energy systems. It specifies use permissions and development standards for small and large solar energy systems (§734) and permits small systems by right in all districts and large systems with a discretionary use permit in most districts (§734.5). Standards for large systems address stormwater management and erosion, foundations, other standards and codes, and utility lines (§734.10(1)). Standards for small systems address accessory buildings, height, location on lot, maximum coverage, approved components, compliance with state electrical code, and utility notification (§734.10(2)).
