The county's zoning code permits accessory solar energy systems in all zoning districts by right (see Chapters 19.12–19.53).

It also permits solar energy systems as primary uses in Exclusive Agriculture (§19.12.030), Limited Agriculture (§19.14.030), Light Industrial (§19.36.030), Medium Industrial (§19.38.030), Heavy Industrial (§19.40.030), Recreation-Forestry (§19.42.030), Natural Resource (§19.46.030), Drilling Island (§19.48.030), and Platted Lands (§19.53.030) districts with a conditional use permit.
