Solar energy

The city's Climate Action Plan lists conventional and solar charging stations for electric vehicles as an implementation consideration for the development of alternative and flex-fuel vehicle power sources (Program T11, p.2-17).

A conceptual strategy of the plan is to reduce energy demand and use. A schematic strategy is to promote energy efficiency programs and rebate opportunities, including opportunities for residential and commercial solar retrofitting (Program E2, p.2-19). Another strategy is to encourage and facilitate permitting of green building and renewable energy projects (Program E3, p. 2-20). A third energy strategy is for the City to lead by example and install a small-scale renewable energy system, such as a solar rooftop system, as a promotional and education facility (Program E5, p. 2-22).
