Solar Energy

The city's zoning code lists solar panels and other energy generation devices as permitted accessory uses in all districts (§27-105 et seq.). Utility-scale solar energy systems are permitted as conditional uses in commercial and industrial districts (§27.200.18.300). The code provides a section of supplementary regulations for solar energy systems (§27-240). It defines small-scale and utility-scale solar energy systems and provides general requirements encouraging roof-mounted systems and addressing appearance, roof mountings and emergency roof access, ground-mounted system location and setbacks, vegetation control, screening, and decommissioning. The code also lists permitting and enforcement requirements.
