The city's design guidelines address solar in several places. The design guidelines for single-family residential note that natural characteristics of the site, including solar orientation, should be incorporated into landscape design (5.0-A.b), and encourage the installation of solar panels integrated into roof design or screened if not visually pleasing (6.3-A.d). The design guidelines for multifamily development also note that solar orientation should be incorporated into landscape design (5.1-B.b) and encourage the installation of solar panels integrated into roof design or screened if not visually pleasing (2.5-B.m). The same provisions are applicable to commercial and office design projects (5.1.b, 6.3.f) as well as business park and industrial design projects (5.1.b, 6.3.f).
