Solar Energy

In the town's comprehensive plan, the Land Use Element includes a goal on Development Quality (Goal 4.3) with a related Solar Orientation policy calling for the development of solar orientation and shadow analysis standards (Policy 4.3.i). The Environmental Resources element includes a section on Sustainability Practices, which notes the town has invested in solar panels for municipal facilities (p. 9-3). Policies in this section encourage the use of alternative energy sources, such as solar, in all types of development and call for the removal of potential barriers to small-scale renewable energy production (Policy 9.3.d), as well as encouraging the use of sustainable development practices in all new development (Policy 9.3.f).
