The town's Comprehensive Plan notes that developing and using renewable energy is one of four areas of alignment that stand out throughout the plan (p. 7). It calls out priority strategies addressing renewable energy in the topics of Economic Growth, Diversification, and Self-Sufficiency, as well as Ecology and Renewable Energy (p. 8). The plan sets Ecology and Renewable Energy goals of reducing energy demand and producing energy locally through strategies of developing a green building program and working to implement local innovations in renewable energy (pp. 28, 94).
