Built Environment and Health
The town’s zoning code requires a health impact assessment (HIA) as part of their variance approval process (§250-64(o)). The HIA must address chemical exposure, the possible health effects of industrial operations, and remedies to potential issues.
Solar Energy
The town's zoning code defines "solar collector" and "solar storage battery" (Section 250-10).
It permits rooftop and freestanding solar energy systems less than 35' in height with less than 1,200 sq. ft. in area by right in all districts and systems greater than 35' in height with more than 1,200 sq. ft. in area with a special use permit. All systems are subject to standards addressing the following (Section 250-46):
- height, including a limited exemption
- glare
- setbacks
- inspections
- battery storage
- removal
