Accessory Dwelling Units  |  Housing Supply Planning

This short article highlights the potential of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) as an affordable housing strategy and briefly discusses common barriers to developing ADUs. The author reports on survey research of 47 communities and concludes that localities with ADU-friendly zoning could expect 1 new ADU per 1,000 single-family homes per year.
