Accessory Dwelling Units

The city’s land development code permits internal, attached, and detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by right in in all residential districts, subject to use-specific standards (§30-8-1.1). These standards relationship to zoning district standards, owner occupancy, units per lot, setbacks, unit size, appearance, parking, and trailers and recreational vehicles as ADUs (§30-8-11.2).

Scenic View Protection

The city’s land development code aims to preserve and enhance scenic quality along scenic roads (§30-6-9.9). It requires a scenic corridor assessment for proposed scenic corridor overlay districts, which includes information on land use, unique qualities, information on the value of the corridor to residents, transportation, and a review of standards of underlying zoning districts (§30-4-8.6). Additionally, it provides information on established scenic corridor overlay districts (§30-7-8.10). A complimentary Scenic Corridor Overlay Districts Design Manual provides further design guideline for each district.
