Active Transportation

This report provides guidance for the city of Austin’s subdivision code revision. In additiona to complete streets facilities, the authors recommended connectivity standards. Table 2.2 gathers on each row the recommendation from the comprehensive plan, the issue it raises for subdivision code, current code, action items, and recommended model code or policy prescriptions from other jurisdictions. Chapter 5 offers case studies from around the country. The authors also include a section on criticisms by other communities that have implemented similar policies. The San Antonio case discusses network connectivity.

This report provides regulatory recommendations to help Austin, Texas, implement complete street goals. Individual chapters address subdivision code recommendations, transportation criteria manual recommendations, and noteworthy practices and case studies.
