This guide offers a straightforward means of performing a cost-benefit analysis for bicycle facilities. Unfortunately, the online tool mentioned throughout the article is no longer available, but might be replicable. The calculations for existing bicycling demand are based on U.S. census journey to work mode shares, establishing buffers and finding the density of population with them. Benefits are calculated by mobility (cost of time for all modes), a pre-set health benefit, and a recreation benefit for trips that do not replace auto travel.
