This article examines how local zoning or licensing standards for medical marijuana dispensaries may affect nearby incidences of crime. The authors studied crime near medical marijuana dispensaries in Sacramento, California, and found that dispensaries with security cameras and signs relating to qualified patients were associated with lower rates of violent crime.
