The village’s municipal code requires sidewalk installation in new subdivisions and in accordance with the Pedestrian, Bicycle and Safe Routes to School Plan to serve pedestrian traffic areas (§404-5(C)). The developer pays for 100% of sidewalk costs, and the village policy is to extend sidewalks concurrently with street construction. The code includes criteria for prioritizing CIP sidewalk projects for existing urban streets.
