Active transportation

The town’s zoning code includes the Walkway-Gateway (W-G) District, which orients itself to a pedestrian crossing over the Hudson River (§100-38). The district’s purpose is two-fold: to bring economic development from the Walkway over the Hudson State Historic Park users, and to convert a previously automobile-oriented area into a pedestrian oriented district. Measures include the addition of a farmers’ market and the prohibition of high-impact industrial uses, as well as safety standards.
