Grayfields Reuse and Redevelopment

This article evaluates four possible alternative uses for vacant big box stores—retail reuse, adaptive reuse, demolition and redevelopment, and demolition and regreening—and provides guidance for local governments in evaluating these options and implementing them through zoning codes. It includes a table intended to help planners select the suitable solution for their context.
