Age-Friendly Communities

The city’s functional plan for seniors includes innovative goals and a fund for non-profit innovation. It targets a set of strategic areas that include community support services, health services, communication and information, social and recreational participation, transportation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation, housing, and outdoor spaces and buildings. The Housing section includes not only widely adopted goals such as more robust universal design and accessory dwelling unit measures, but also housing for victims of elder abuse. The homepage for the department also includes an Age Friendly Innovation Fund that makes funding available to non-profits for relevant initiatives.
