Age-Friendly Communities

The city’s functional plan addresses the unique aspects of planning for an aging population in a very large city. The four initiatives are community and civic participation, housing, public spaces and transportation, and health and social services. The city looks to identify naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs) and enhance housing options beyond rent control and stabilization. Age-FriendlyNYC has continued to produce more refined plans and updates on its Publications page.
