Age-Friendly Communities

The city’s functional plan is written for a suburban community that is planning to encourage and enable aging in place. The community’s land use is 97% residential, and mostly single family homes. The plan focuses on retrofitting homes and updating zoning codes for senior housing uses, i.e. permitting universal design features while also encouraging denser infill development for smaller senior households.
