This report from the U.S. Forest Service provides an overview of existing urban forests in the U.S. and discusses challenges facing them. Challenges include insects and diseases, invasive plants, climate change, additional development, air pollution, and more. It also describes numerous benefits stemming from urban trees, looks at canopy cover across the United States, and provides a list of tools that can be used by local governments to assist in urban forestry planning and management.
