Community Visioning

The city first developed a vision and accompanying action plan in 2000. Updated on a regular basis by the citizen-led Vision Implementation Committee, the current version of the plan was approved by the city council in 2010. The vision statement, unchanged since 2000, addresses six topic areas: strengthening community, enhancing all neighborhoods and districts, preserving the environment, fostering economic opportunity, supporting access to the arts and cultural activities, and promoting community health and safety.  The plan includes a detailed matrix of implementation actions that identify lead and support entities as well as timeframe. It was used as a model for the development of the city's 2035 Community Plan.
