Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest 

This article provides a literature review of existing research documenting the costs associated with urban forest maintenance as well as the costs of deferring that maintenance. The authors found that information about maintenance costs was more readily available than information about costs associated with choosing not to maintain urban trees. However, existing studies do indicate that costs associated with forgoing maintenance may manifest many years later.
