Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest

The city’s urban forest plan features elements concerning protection and preservation, enhancement, expansion, monitoring, outreach, and best management practices. The section regarding protection and preservation includes a review of potential policy improvements, and each section features a list of current initiatives and “tactical actions” to be taken to improve their urban forest. These actions include using a risk rating index, maintaining more detailed GIS layers, establishing a riparian buffer restoration program for private property, and creating an “adopt a tree” protection ordinance.
