Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest

The city’s urban forest plan includes policy recommendations for public and private trees. Part 1 includes the following recommendations: maximize the benefits of urban trees, grow the street tree population by 50 percent, establish and fund a maintenance program, and manage trees through their entire life-cycle. The tree management portion includes a tree nursery, succession plantings, and wood reuse. The plan then sets a series of goals with policy proposals supporting each one. The goals are labeled: Grow, Protect, Manage, Fund, and Engage. The appendices also address trees on private property and in parks.
