Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest

The city’s urban forest plan includes policy recommendations for public and private trees. The top-level goal of the plan is to increase the city’s canopy cover from 31 percent to between 50 and 75 percent. Key priorities include reaching a “climate-appropriate” canopy cover, compiling a comprehensive inventory, maintaining adequate funding, and more. Strategies are listed for each goal. Appendix C features performance indicators, and D is an implementation matrix.
