Introducing Planning Concepts to Nonplanners

This guide, prepared by the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, is a supplement to the New Designs for Growth Guidebook and is intended to provide basic information to citizens that haven’t been closely involved in the planning process, but would like to shape future changes in their community. It describes and explains the master plan and zoning ordinance; lists "who's who" in planning and zoning; and reviews the various ways that the public may participate in local planning processes. Appendices include a glossary, a list of frequently asked questions, and contact information for the planning and zoning functions of local jurisdictions.
