Measuring Planning Department Performance

This guidebook, first developed to help prepare the county’s FY1999 budget, has been used to develop and improve goals, objectives, and performance indicators for county budgets. It explains the importance of performance management to county government, provides information about the components of a performance management system, and offers guidance on how to develop and implement a performance management system and budgeting process. The guidebook connects performance management to the county’s vision statement and lays out a four-step methodology to develop agency performance measures.
