Measuring Planning Department Performance

This city has adopted a FOCUS performance management approach to budgeting and city management. Volume I of the city’s budget, the Biennial Operating and Capital Budget, includes a “Budget in Brief” section that lists mission, areas of focus, strategic results, and budget/number of employees for each department and agency, including Community Development.  Volume II, FOCUS – Performance-Based Budgeting, lists Community Development programs and budgets, along with a list of issues on the horizon and a matrix of department programs with purpose statements, services provided, and performance measures for each.
