Measuring Planning Department Performance

This audit, performed by the county’s performance audit office, concludes the Planning and Development Services department is in “critical condition.” The audit examined departmental operations and identified problems with leadership, the department’s charging structure, IT systems, performance documentation, and employee transition planning system, and customer service.

A  follow-up audit of the department published in July 2012 reports significant progress in addressing problems identified in the 2009 audit.
