Historic Preservation

The city’s zoning code includes regulations on the preservation of historic resources (§24-223-233). It establishes a historic district commission tasked with reviewing applications for designation and for historic area work permits. It also gives city council the authority to mandate that utility and cable facility companies relocate their infrastructure underground in historic districts.

Small Wireless Facilities and Wireless Facilities in the ROW

The city's zoning code defines "telecommunications facility, small cell" (§24-1). Detailed standards (§24-167A.e) address the locational and aesthetic conditions under which small cell antenna may be installed on support structures on private land as well as public land, where they are a permitted use in all zones. The ordinance includes an abandonment/removal clause.
