Environmentally Sensitive Areas

The town’s comprehensive plan includes guidelines for conservation, protection, and preservation of various environmentally sensitive areas. Objectives and policies that support sensitive area protection are found in the land resources section and include need to preserve open spaces (EN.6), using land easements to create a greenway along a riparian buffer that promotes biodiversity (EN.10 and EN.11), and identify ways to reclaim natural floodplains (EN.15).
