Environmentally Sensitive Areas

The city’s comprehensive plan includes a conservation element to protect natural ecosystems and resources. It includes objectives and policies for vegetative communities, fisheries, wildlife, marine habitats, beaches, lagoons, floodplains, and wetlands. Policy items include collaborating with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, prohibiting of development within wetlands, and continuing acquisition programs that protect ecologically valuable land. It meet requirements for resource protection as established by Florida Statutes.
