The county’s comprehensive plan includes a discussion on preservation and restoration of natural resources. Part of the policy approach includes a transfer of development rights program to protect both agricultural and natural resources. The comprehensive plan refers to the Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan, a document that provides detailed information on natural resources and provides examples of protective methods, like fee title purchases and conservation easements.
